On March 29-30, the V International Robotics Festival Roboland 2019 was held in Karaganda. By tradition, the festival included a round table among experts in the field of educational robotics, in which Vladimir Turekhanov, President of the Kazakhstan Association of Automation and Robotics, took part.

Askhat AYMAGAMBETOV, Deputy Akim of the Karaganda Region, noted: “Every year the festival becomes more popular and larger. In 2015, when RoboLand was first organized, just over 70 people participated in it. And today there are a hundred times more participants. This festival has become the largest in our country, which promotes the development of international relations. Annually updated and complicated categories. The program included competitions in artificial intelligence, the Internet of things, aquaponics".
According to the results of the competition in the team event, the Karaganda region won. The second place was taken by the team of the capital Nur-Sultan, the third - the team of Pavlodar region.
Representatives from Russia (Chelyabinsk) and Kazakhstan (Shakhtinsk) became the best in the new competition category RoboLand Frendship for the festival. This category involves working in groups that combine several teams which must program the robots so that they can work together for greater efficiency.
Two certificates for a free trip to the city of Tomsk, where the qualifying stage of the All-Russian Robotics Championship will be held in April, went to teams from Kokshetau and Pavlodar, recognized as the best in the categories “Show with Robots” and “Football of Robots”.
Special prize - a set for robotics, which only appeared on the Kazakhstan market, received the smallest member of RoboLand-2019 - 5-year-old Sergei Belikov from Zhezkazgan, a graduate of the “Koktem” kindergarten. The entrepreneur Maksat Madenov decided to support an young talent.
The annual RoboLand festival is the largest venue in Kazakhstan for children and teenagers who are passionate about new technologies. This year it is taking place for the fifth time. Within the framework of the festival, a round table “Innovative approaches in education as a means of success for the young generation” was held, where they discussed the introduction of STEM education and the use of robotics in kindergartens, schools and universities.
Vladimir TUREKHANOV, President of the Kazakhstan Association of Automation and Robotics, noted that robotics competitions are an excellent platform for identifying capable guys to further prepare them for employment in domestic enterprises: «It is necessary to create a bridge from the school bench through the universities in production. The Association began this work jointly with the Federation "Kazrobotics" with the participation of Kazakhstani universities and industrial enterprises. Anyone interested can join this project».
