More than 250 schoolchildren and students from the CIS countries gathered on November 30 - December 1 in Petropavlovsk at the KazRobotics-2018 International Robotics Festival, organized by the Kazakhstani Federation of Educational and Sports Robotics «KazRobotics» with the support of the Foundation of the First President of Kazakhstan.

The central event of the festival was the finale of the Republican Championship in sports robotics KazRoboProject-2018. The best roboticists were selected from 3,000 participants from each region of Kazakhstan and neighboring countries, who fought for the title of the best of the best in several areas of sports robotics: robo-sumo, sumo walking robots, biathlon, relay race and sports labyrinth. The youngest participant is 6 years old, whereas the oldest is 20 years old. The team of the Karaganda region took the first place in the team competition and the grand prix from the regional akim. The second place was taken by the representative team of the Atyrau region, the third – by the West Kazakhstan region.
For the second year in a row, within the framework of the festival, a round table was held on the development of robotics with the participation of experts not only from Kazakhstan, but also from the CIS countries, where problems of competitive, designing, preschool and rehabilitation robotics were discussed. The outcome of the round table was the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Federations of Educational Robotics of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
This year, the annual festival was held in the new ultra-modern Schoolchildren’s Palace with a high-tech base «Digital URPAQ», which will become the center of robotics, biotechnology, mechatronics and 3D prototyping for children and adolescents of Petropavlovsk.
