October 17-18, Kazakhstan Association of Automation and Robotics (KAAR) participated in the Kazakh-Austrian Business Council in Linz (Austria) with participation of the Chairman of the Board, of the Union of Machine Builders of Kazakhstan Meiram Pshembaev and Vice-President of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber Richard Shents.

Fifth Kazakh-Austrian Business Council was held in the Hessen Platz Economic Chamber of Upper Austria in Linz. The council was attended by the heads of government agencies, development institutions, national companies and associations of Kazakhstan and Austrian entrepreneurs in automotive engineering, oil and gas, food industry, energy, agriculture, construction and others fields. The Vice-President of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber, Richard Schenz and the Chairman of the Board, of the Union of Machine Builders of Kazakhstan Meiram Pshembaev were nominated as Co-Chairs of the Business Council. They informed the participants about the current status and prospects of trade and economic relations between the two countries.

Meyram Pshembaev said: «Over the past 5 years the Kazakh-Austrian cooperation shows positive dynamics. The trade volume in the first half of 2016 made 377 million euros, including the export to Austria amounted to 152 million euros, which provided a 22% increment of growth».

The programme of two days gave an opportunity to discuss the ways of trade, economic and investment cooperation between two countries, to introduce the project of EXPO-2017 and to discuss the issues like taxation, visa support and others that may impede the further development of co-operation.

One of the important events of the Business Council was the conclusion of the Cooperation Agreement between Pavlodar Region of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Upper Austria as a result of favorable economic opportunities of Kazakhstan's and Austrian regions. The agreement was signed by the First Deputy the Governor of Pavlodar region of Kazakhstan D. Turganov and the Minister of Economy of the Government of the Land of Upper Austria M. Strugl.

The President of the Kazakhstan Association of Automation and Robotics Vladimir Turekhanov: «Austria is one of the leading countries in the production and export of industrial robotics. Participation of KAAR in Business Council is an additional opportunity to get acquainted with the achievements of Austrian companies in this area, to start a fruitful cooperation for more active development of automation and robotics in Kazakhstan».

Kazakh-Austrian Business Council is being held since 2012 on an annual basis in order to improve business cooperation between two countries and to discuss the issues that may impede effective business relationships between Austrian and Kazakh companies.
